The design is a masterpiece of Swiss design and pack engineering, built out of the famous Swiss salt & pepper flax and nettle canvas and thick full grain leather and anodised aluminium buckles, all beautifully and robustly saddle-stitched together.
Square in shape and a large size at 45 cm x 45 cm x 12cms deep, the pack is a clever fold-out design which opens out to give a huge array of internal pockets and even a built-in leather pouch for smaller items. Everything is held securely in place with webbing and canvas pockets, and the pack is closed up with adjustable leather straps. A great bag for carrying an array of bushcraft tools, or perfect for a motorcycle or Land Rover tool kit.
After we first came across a single one of these amazing Vintage Swiss Army bags over a year ago, we finally succeeded in locating a small batch of them out of storage and have been working on the bags ready for sale. After 40 years in storage they were uncovered as a dusty grey dried out canvas and varying degrees of dried mould on the leather so we set about reconditioning the packs and treating the special flax and nettle canvas with our own flax-oil and organic beeswax treatment before curing the finish over several days in a warm environment. The result completely brings these great bags back to life and the canvas turns a fantastic dark grey colour, contrasting with the rich red-orange leather colours. A thick webbing shoulder carry strap attaches with very solid stitching to two O-rings on the back, making it a very comfortable bag to carry even when full of tools.
